Read shoe sizes through foot length first

Shoe sizes are not the same number across markets. US, UK, and AU change by fit line, while EU, CN, KR, and JP often appear on brand charts with different rounding habits. This tool converts the input to a length basis first, then shows the common labels side by side.

Use the result as a starting point, not as the final buying decision. Measure both feet, keep the longer foot as the reference, and confirm the model on the brand chart before ordering.

What this converter does

The English page starts from US sizing because many English shoe searches and retail charts begin there. It still keeps KR(mm) and JP(cm) visible so the length basis does not disappear.

  • Choose men, women, or kids before entering the number.
  • Pick the size system printed on the shoe or chart.
  • Copy the result you need from the result cards.
  • Use the brand chart when a purchase is involved.

Why KR and JP are useful length checks

KR uses millimeters and JP usually uses centimeters, so they are easy ways to sanity-check the length behind a size number.

  • US 9 men maps to KR 270mm and JP 27cm in this simplified table.
  • Measure both feet and use the longer one.
  • Width, socks, and last shape are not included in the conversion.

US, UK, and AU are fit-line sensitive

US, UK, and AU numbers differ between men, women, and kids. Pick the line of the product you are actually buying, not only your identity.

  • Use women when the product is sold as women’s footwear.
  • Use men when the product is a men’s line.
  • For kids, check C/Y labels and return options.

EU and CN can differ by brand

EU and CN sizes may be shown as whole or half sizes depending on the brand. Treat the number here as a comparison point.

  • If a half size appears, compare it with the nearest official chart value.
  • One EU number can represent a different internal length by brand.
  • Dress shoes and sneakers can feel different at the same label size.

Worked examples to compare with brand charts

These examples use this page’s simplified conversion table. Brand charts can still show different EU, CM, JP, or kids C/Y values, so check the official chart before buying.

Men US 9UK 8 · EU 42 · KR 270mm · JP 27cm · CN 42 · AU 8
Women US 7UK 5 · EU 38 · KR 230mm · JP 23cm · CN 38 · AU 5
Kids US 2CUK 1.5 · EU 24 · KR 140mm · JP 14cm · CN 24 · AU 1.5

When the brand chart must win

ISO 19407 is a useful reference for comparing shoe size systems by foot length, but it cannot replace a brand last, toe allowance, or local labeling habit.

  • The brand says its CM label is not the same as measured foot length.
  • Width, cushioning, socks, or boot shape matters.
  • Kids need growth room and exchange conditions checked.

Frequently asked questions

What does Men US 9 show?

With this simplified conversion, Men US 9 shows UK 8, EU 42, KR 270mm, JP 27cm, CN 42, and AU 8. Use the brand chart as the final reference.

Should I choose men or women when buying across sections?

Choose the line of the product. If the shoe is sold as a men’s model, use men; if it is sold as a women’s model, use women.

Are KR 270mm and JP 27cm the same length?

In this tool they represent the same length basis. Real internal shoe length and fit can still vary by brand and model.

What if EU or CN does not match the brand chart?

Follow the official chart for that brand and model. The EU and CN numbers here are comparison values, not purchase guarantees.

Is CM or JP always the measured foot length?

Not always. Some brands explain that the CM label on a box is not exactly measured foot length, so re-check your measurement on the brand chart.

Can I buy kids shoes directly from the converted number?

Use it only as a starting point. Kids sizing also depends on C/Y labeling, growth room, sock thickness, shoe type, and exchange policy.
