Milestone Birthday Calculator

A milestone birthday is your birthday in the year you reach a round or legally meaningful age, so the year is your birth year plus the age. Someone born on November 30, 1976 turns 50 on Mon, November 30, 2026, which is 43 days after October 18, 2026. In 2026 the 50th belongs to people born in 1976, the 60th to 1966 and the 75th to 1951.

Your 50th birthday is the day you complete 50 years, and you can count back from it

A milestone birthday is one with a round or legally meaningful number: 18, 21, 30, 40, 50, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 90 and 100. The date is simply your birthday in the year you reach that age, which is your birth year plus the age. Someone born on November 30, 1976 reaches 50 on Mon, November 30, 2026, which is 43 days after October 18, 2026. That person is 49 today and is in their 50th year until that day.

To find who turns an age in a given year, subtract the age from the year. In 2026 the 50th birthday belongs to people born in 1976, the 60th to those born in 1966, and the 75th to those born in 1951. The calculator above lists every milestone from 18th to 100th for your birth date, with the weekday and the days left, and the table further down lists the birth years for 2026 and 2027.

      Why these ages are milestones

Ages such as 60, 70, 75, 80 and 90 are celebrated simply because they are round numbers. A few other ages are also written into US and UK rules, and those are listed below.

      • 18: the US voting age. The 26th Amendment says "the right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote, shall not be denied or abridged" because of age.
      • 21: the US drinking age, through highway funds. 23 U.S.C. 158, titled "National minimum drinking age", withholds part of a state's federal highway apportionment if a person under 21 can lawfully buy or publicly possess alcohol there. So the state laws are what apply to you, and they are shaped by this funding rule.
      • 30: the minimum age of a US Senator. Article I, Section 3 says no person shall be a Senator who has not attained the age of thirty years.
      • 40: age discrimination protection. The EEOC states that the Age Discrimination in Employment Act forbids age discrimination against people who are 40 or older.
      • 50: catch-up contributions. The IRS says that individuals who are 50 or over at the end of the calendar year can make annual catch-up contributions to retirement plans. Note that the test is the end of the year, not the birthday itself.
      • 65: Medicare. Medicare.gov describes Medicare as coverage for people 65 or older who meet citizenship or residency requirements. Some people qualify earlier because of a disability, End-Stage Renal Disease or ALS, and enrollment timing depends on when Social Security benefits start.
      • 100: a card from the King (UK). The royal.uk anniversary messages page says cards are sent to those celebrating their 100th and 105th birthday and every year thereafter, for citizens of His Majesty's Realms or UK Overseas Territories. You usually do not need to apply, because the Department for Work and Pensions tells the Anniversaries Office.

Milestone ages and the birth year they point to

Add the age to your birth year to get the year of the milestone. The last column says why the age matters, where it is tied to a rule.

Who reaches each milestone in 2026 and 2027

Work backward from the milestone year: birth year = year − age. The calculator also lets you pick any year from last year to ten years ahead.

Someone born early in a year and someone born late in it share the same milestone year, but their dates are months apart. For a person born on November 30, 1976, the 50th falls late in 2026 and the 75th falls on Thu, November 30, 2051.

      How the dates are calculated

      1. Milestone year: birth year plus the age. For November 30, 1976 and age 50 that is 2026.
      2. Milestone date: the same month and day in that year. For 1976-11-30 the 50th is Mon, November 30, 2026, the 60th is Sun, November 30, 2036 and the 100th is Mon, November 30, 2076.
      3. Days left: milestone date minus today's date. The 50th is 43 days away, the 60th is 3,696 days away, and the day itself shows D-DAY.
      4. Age today: full years completed. On October 18, 2026 the 1976-11-30 birthday gives 49.
      5. Weekend before: if the date is a weekday, the preceding Saturday and Sunday are shown. For Mon, November 30, 2026 that is Sat, November 28 and Sun, November 29.

Basis Ages are completed years, counted on the birthday. Dates use the Gregorian calendar and today is your device's date. February 29 births use March 1 by default and can be switched.

How to read the decade grid

The picture under the card is a grid of your years of life. Each row is 10 years and each square is one year. The number on the left is the age at which the row starts (0, 10, 20 and so on), and the heads along the top run from +0 to +9. Because every row holds ten years, all birthdays ending in 0 land in the first column (+0), which makes the decades easy to see.

      • Filled squares are years already lived. The square for the current year is filled only as far as the year has passed, and the vertical bar marks today.
      • A square with a border and an age number is a milestone birthday. Tap a row in the list and its border gets thicker and the card switches to it.
      • Ages that do not end in 0 (18, 21, 65, 75) sit in other columns, so they stand apart from the round decades.

      Cases that cause confusion

      • "In my 50th year" is not the 50th birthday. You are in your 50th year from the day you turn 49 until the day you turn 50. A person born on November 30, 1976 is in their 50th year today and has the 50th birthday on Mon, November 30, 2026.
      • The legal age test is not always the birthday. The IRS catch-up rule looks at age at the end of the calendar year, so it can apply in the year of your 50th birthday even before the day arrives. Check the rule you need rather than using the birthday date.
      • Medicare timing is not just the date you turn 65. Medicare.gov says what you have to do depends on whether you start Social Security benefits before turning 65, so use the agency's pages for the actual enrollment window.
      • February 29 birthdays. Someone born on February 29, 1956 has no February 29 in 2026. With the default, the 70th is counted on Sun, March 1, 2026 (231 days ago); choosing February 28 gives Sat, February 28, 2026. The 80th falls on Fri, February 29, 2036 because 2036 is a leap year. Pick the day your family or paperwork uses.
      • One birth year, many dates. Everyone born in 1976 turns 50 in 2026, but the birthdays run from January 1 to December 31.

      Limits

      • The meanings listed cover the US and UK rules named in the table. Other ages are shown as round-number birthdays.
      • This is a date calculator, not legal, tax or benefits advice. For voting, alcohol, employment, retirement plans or Medicare, confirm the rule with the responsible agency or your state.
      • Today's age and days left use your device's date. A wrong device date gives wrong results.
      • Birth years run from 1900 to the current year. A birth date after today is rejected.
