Make a QR code people can actually use
A QR code turns a short piece of information into a pattern a phone can read. This generator makes codes for web addresses, plain text, Wi-Fi details, and contact details, with a preview that changes as you work.

Start with the destination
For a URL, paste the complete address, including https://. For text, write only what the reader needs. Short, direct content produces a less dense code that is easier to scan.
A practical four-mode workflow
Choose URL for a page, Text for a brief message, Wi-Fi for network access, or Contact for a shareable person record. Fill in the relevant fields, inspect the preview, choose a size from 128 to 512 pixels, then download and scan it.

Wi-Fi codes need exact details
A Wi-Fi code can save typing, but the network name, password, and security setting must match the router exactly. Select WPA/WPA2, WEP, or no password, and mark a hidden network only when it is actually hidden.
Contact cards use vCard 3.0
Contact mode creates vCard 3.0 content. It can include a name, organization, phone number, email address, and website; a scanning app decides how it presents or imports those fields.
Choose the right error correction
L, M, Q, and H trade capacity for resilience. Higher correction can help when part of a printed code is obscured, but it makes the pattern denser. M is a sensible starting point; test the result at its final size.
Size is not the whole story
The 128β512 pixel setting changes the downloaded image dimensions. A large file still needs enough clear physical space when printed, and a dense code may need more room than a short one.
Keep foreground and background distinct
Dark marks on a light background are the safest choice. The contrast indicator is a prompt, not a guarantee: avoid similar colours, gradients behind the code, and transparent or busy backgrounds.
Read the live preview
The preview lets you spot an empty field, an unexpectedly dense pattern, or a colour choice that is hard to read before downloading. It is a visual check, not a replacement for scanning.
PNG or JPG?
PNG keeps sharp square edges and is usually the better choice for a QR code. JPG is available when a workflow requires it, but compression can soften edges; scan the downloaded JPG at the intended use size.
Test where it will be seen
Open the downloaded file on a second screen or print it at the planned size. Scan from a normal viewing distance with more than one phone when possible, then confirm that the destination and any Wi-Fi or contact data are correct.

Can a QR code join a Wi-Fi network?
It can carry the network name, password, security type, and hidden-network flag. Whether a phone offers to join depends on its camera app and operating system. Check every field and test on a real device.
What does contact mode contain?
It creates vCard 3.0 content for the entered name, organization, phone, email, and website. Contact apps may display or import those fields differently.
Why does the code become dense?
Longer content and higher error correction require more modules in the pattern. Shorten the content, use a lower correction level when appropriate, or use a larger final display or print area.
Is a preview enough to confirm scanning?
