Quick examples
Before you rely on the result
Tax and tip rates are user-entered values, and default rates are examples only. Actual bills, tax treatment, rounding, and reporting rules can vary by place and situation, so check the original bill, local guidance, or a qualified professional before relying on the result for important decisions.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a base value of 0 invalid for percentage calculations?
Percentage calculations divide the part by the base. A base of 0 cannot be used as the denominator.
Why is an old value of 0 invalid for percent change?
Percent change measures change relative to the old value. If the old value is 0, there is no valid percentage baseline.
Can the tax result differ from the final amount I pay?
Yes. Local tax rules, exemptions, fees, and rounding can change the final amount. This calculator only uses the rate you enter.
Is the default tip rate a rule?
No. It is only a quick-start example. Adjust the tip rate to match your location, situation, or receipt.
