A character counter should show the numbers first
When you paste text into a counter, the first thing you need is the current number. Drafts for applications, article titles, meta descriptions, product copy, and social posts often have a limit, so the count should not be buried under a long explanation.

Why input and results are split
A text counter works best when the numbers move with the text. The editor stays wide enough for longer drafts, and the result panel stays in the same place while you type.
The lower analysis row follows the same idea. Reading time and readability sit under the input area; keyword hints align with the result side so the eye does not jump around.
How the counts are handled
Characters with spaces include spaces, tabs, and line breaks. The no-space count removes regular spaces and tabs. The no-line-break count removes Enter-based line breaks. No-whitespace removes both, which helps when a submission rule is vague.
UTF-8 bytes show the storage size of the text. English letters are usually 1 byte, while emoji and many non-Latin characters can take more, so byte count may differ from character count.
What to cut first
When you are close to a limit, start with repeated wording. Look for two sentences that say the same thing, examples that are longer than the point, or qualifiers that hide the main idea.
Word count and reading time are supporting signals. Character count is the main number, but those hints can show when a short text has become harder to read.

Should I use characters with spaces or without spaces?
Follow the rule from the place where you will submit the text. If no rule is given, use characters with spaces as the default and use the no-space number as a secondary check.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The counting happens in your browser. Roberin does not need to receive the text to calculate characters, words, bytes, keywords, or reading time.
Why can byte count be larger than character count?
UTF-8 stores different characters with different byte lengths. English letters are usually 1 byte, while Korean, Japanese, emoji, and many symbols can use more bytes.
What should I cut first when I am near the limit?
Cut repeated modifiers, duplicate sentences, and examples that do not support the main point. Keep the sentence that carries the meaning and remove the extra explanation around it.
